2023 Annual Report
Welcome to the 2023 AGM of the Inverleith Allotments Association
I always start with a summary of numbers of plotholders and turn over here at Inverleith. I understand this year we’ve had quite a high turnover – of 10 plots.
I’d like to welcome all our new plotholders who have waited those 14 years and hope you enjoy the experience. A big thank you to everyone on the site committee for the time and effort you gave during the year.
So, what have we been up to?

So, what have we been up to?
- We held an allotment show back in September, well done to Felicitas for winning the Drew Wilson cup and to all involved in setting it up and clearing it away.
- We also managed a Tattie Boiling at the end of July. Pete Urwin brough some of his excellent cider which helped the digestion a bit. Thanks very much Pam for all that boiling.
- Talking of Pete, the annual apple pressing did happen but I’ve not seen him recently. Possibly hiding somewhere with a lot of bottles of cider made from plotholders apples.
- Chipper Sundays have been arranged when we’ve been able to dodge the rain and will continue until winter.
- Our Communal Compost bins are well used. Please follow the rules so we get best use from them, clearly posted on the side of the bins. Alternatively, create your own compost bin. Information was sent in the last newsletter about Nigel’s DIY version, easily made. Go see it half way down the main path at the sign of the flying CD.
- There’s nothing to report about maintenance of the site. The guard rails protecting the drop offs seem to be working with no injuries I’ve heard of. Thanks Sandy for your Health and Safety checks.
- Bulk purchases of compost again proved popular, thanks go to Martha, Clare and helpers.
- Our orders with Kings Seeds and for FEDAGA potatoes, onions and leeks was again greater than in the past. We’d expect a healthy commission back soon.
