Inverleith in the News

During September we again hosted a visit from Broughton High School. Around 90 students took part in groups looking at food production from fresh vegetables, how we grow fruit and vegetables, an art class and how allotments can provide inspiration for creating metal plant supports. The day went very well, the weather stayed almost dry and we all agreed that the event brought a good sense of community to the students. The six pots of soup produced by the students demonstrated the ease that fresh vegetables could become very tasty food.

Many thanks to Cathy Bell, Warwick Taylor and Stuart McKenzie who hosted the event and made generous donations of their own produce. We were joined by Jean Michel Guffre of the 'La Garrigue' restaurant and local artist Carola Gordon. A big thanks to all.

A few pictures and a press report are available on the Evening News website.

We also hosted a visit by Councillor Aldridge who was launching the new Allotment Strategy to STV.

Thanks very much to our filmstars!! Another great advert to the value of allotments.
