It's Your Neighbourhood success

Picture
Three in a row!!

It’s Your Neighbourhood is a non-competitive community environmental improvement campaign run in conjunction with the Royal Horticultural Society.

The campaign is based on themes of Community Participation, Environmental Responsibility and Gardening Achievement and is designed to attract volunteer-led community groups which are cleaning and beautifying their neighbourhoods.

We didn't have a specific new project this year but were persuaded into entering as 'we would be missed!'. The Inverleith Allotments community were again achieved a rating of 'outstanding' for the events held, the environmental work and other initiatives to help our plotholders.

This included:
▪ Our Flower and Vegetable Show
▪ Our Tattie Boiling event
▪ Communal composting
▪ The wildlife area and pond
▪ Supply of reduced price composts, potatoes and seeds
▪ Doors Open Day
▪ Involvement with local schools
▪ Chemical amnesty
▪ Rose planting around the perimeter fence
▪ Hosting MSPs discussion for Community Empowerment Bill

A big thanks to all involved in what has been a successful year.
We now need to enter again in 2016 as we become eligible for a Certificate of Distinction having been involved for four years. Ideas for more site improvement welcomed.
