Communal Compost Bins
Our communal compost bins were bought in 2010 with an Edinburgh Waste Aware grant to reduce the dumping and burning of green waste. A working party of Andrew Reid, Warwick Taylor, Andy Crofts and Stuart McKenzie god very stuck-in and emptied a cubic metre of compost for use around the site. Plotholders were eager to take it.Quite good compost we think it is too - after a couple of years to break down we have plenty of good looking black stuff as the pictures show.
Our resident robin was present throughout hoovering up the creepy crawlies to feed a family of robins nesting in the nearby hedge.
